| Simplex Data Processing |
|
A data processing device or protocol capable of transmitting or receiving but not both. Simplex devices are rare in data processing applications. One example is printing via the obsolete "202" modem. In dial mode, the 202 was Half-Duplex and printer flow control could not get back to the computer fast enough. The printer was configured as Simplex with a reverse channel for flow control. Simplex examples in other industries include commercial radio and television. |
