     IBM is the initials of the company who design and build many computers. It stands for International Business Machines. PC stands for Personal Computer. If you are using a PC it maybe made by IBM but it is more likely that it is made by someone else, but it is built to the IBM standard specification. If it is made by someone else, it is known as a PC compatible computer, PC compatible or just a PC.
     In recent years, the term 'PC' is used most often to describe personal computers based on an IBM or IBM-compatible computer, which has an Intel chipset for the microprocessor. Basically this would be your typical Windows machine. Other types of machines, that are not referred to as PCs are Linux or Macs. PCs are very popular. Multiple companies produce PCs, and they are the most popular type of computer on the market. They can be in the form of a desktop, which involves separate components like a tower, monitor, keyboard, speakers, mouse, etc., or they can have a laptop, which has all those features in one unit. PCs make using the computer easy, especially with the Windows Operating System environment. This easy-to-use interface has made it possible for novice computer users to figure out how to use the software. This is a major reason why the Personal Computer is so popular today.
