What is Jumper? Shunt Microjumper Metal Bracket Circuit Pins
Jumpers, Shunts and Microjumpers

A jumper, also called a shunt or microjumper, is a small metal rectangular shaped device which can be coated with plastic. The shunt connects two pins on the hard drive or circuit board to allow electricity to flow freely between the connected pins. The closure of this electrical circuit on the hard drive is done to configure your drive as a master or slave drive, to set SCSI ID numbers (addresses), or other necessary configurations to allow the hard drive to work in your system.
