This category focuses on the various commands used in Apple computers and peripherals. Each item is explained in general, providing information suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced users. The Apple computer is based upon the Motorola 68000 series of processors as opposed to the Intel processors in the PC. Apple computers have also included a more advanced and reliable operating system with built in interfaces for hardware devices such as the mouse, video monitor, and network connection. As Apple supplied all the peripheral devices with their system they retained exclusive rights and control of manufacturing, sales and repair. This meant that quality and reliability could be maintained. Also by controlling the entire hardware and operating system there was no problem with standards as in the IBM system, although this came at the cost of restricting flexibility. These factors and the lack of competition kept Apple prices much higher than the PC. |
